Yankees' Trent Grisham Leaves Game Against Blue Jays Due to Injury

The New York Yankees are facing a potential challenge in their outfield as Trent Grisham exited Friday's matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays due to an apparent injury. The specifics surrounding Grisham's condition remain unclear, but he appeared to experience discomfort while rounding first base and made an awkward slide into second after hitting a two-run single in the sixth inning.

Grisham concluded the game with one hit in four at-bats, with his single reducing Toronto's lead to 7-5 at that moment. A video shared by SNY Yankees captured the moment he advanced to second base before departing the field.

This incident marks the second time this season that Grisham has had to leave a game against the Blue Jays, having previously dealt with left knee discomfort on May 20 while trying to stretch a hit into a double. While that injury did not result in a trip to the injured list, it remains uncertain if the current situation will require the same outcome.

Max Schuemann stepped in to take Grisham's place in the outfield, shifting to right field while Spencer Jones took over center field duties. The Yankees are already managing injuries to Aaron Judge and Jasson Dominguez, the latter of whom is nearing a return. Manager Aaron Boone indicated that Dominguez is expected to play a couple of rehab games with Triple-A this weekend before a decision is made regarding his activation.

Grisham has been a reliable player this season, boasting a batting average of .232 with eight home runs and an OPS of .747 while serving as a strong defensive presence in center field for the Yankees.
