Zach McKinstry on track to rejoin Tigers off injured list this week
Detroit — There was some positive news on the injury front for the Tigers on Monday.
Utility player Zach McKinstry was back in the clubhouse. He’s been out with inflammation in his left hip and lower abdomen and was expected to be on the field going through a full workout.
“He is trending in the right direction,” manager AJ Hinch said. “He’s trending to be back as early as (Tuesday). Physically he feels good. He’s played his (rehab) games. He will do a full workout today and we will make a definitive assessment by the end of the night.”
Second baseman Gleyber Torres, who missed the game Sunday with soreness in his left side, was expected to be available to pinch-hit Monday.
“We are going to give him a full day of activity (Monday) and he might pinch-hit,” Hinch said. “There’s no bad news, nothing for us to be concerned about. We just weren’t comfortable putting him right into the lineup tonight.”
Reliever Kenley Jansen, who has been working through groin tightness, was available to pitch Monday.
