Ancelotti Urges Caution with Endrick as Brazil Prepares for Haiti Clash
During a press conference on Thursday, Carlo Ancelotti addressed the topic of young forward Endrick, emphasizing the need for patience as Brazil gears up for a crucial match against Haiti on Friday. The Brazil national team coach hinted that Endrick is unlikely to feature in the starting lineup for the encounter.
Ancelotti chose not to disclose the final lineup, stating, "No, I’ll let the team know tomorrow. I don’t think this is the right time. That’s all. I have no problem announcing the lineup now. There are no secrets in football. But I prefer to tell the players first." Expectations suggest that Matheus Cunha and Danilo are set to start, with a decision still pending between Paquetá and Danilo Santos.
The coach elaborated on the different attacking options available to him, particularly highlighting Endrick’s unique skill set. "Matheus Cunha is more of a link-up player, with more quality as a second striker than as a central reference point, which is what Igor Thiago is. He is strong, very aggressive. Endrick is neither one nor the other. Endrick is an extraordinary talent. Brazil will make the most of his qualities in this World Cup and the next one," Ancelotti noted, praising the young player's maturity and the supportive presence of his family.
When pressed about Endrick’s potential role, Ancelotti reiterated the call for patience: "I’ll put Endrick in at the right moment. We have to wait a little, he will be important." Brazil, having opened their campaign with a draw, must secure a win against Haiti to improve their chances of advancing in the tournament.
The match is set to kick off at 9:30 p.m. (Brasília time) at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. By then, Brazil will also be aware of the outcome of the earlier match between Scotland and Morocco, as they vie for top positions in their group.
