Angel Reese Delivers Strong Statement After Impressive Victory Against Mystics

Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream entered the Gateway Center Arena in College Park on Saturday, June 6, 2026, eager to redeem themselves following a tough loss to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever just two days prior. After a resounding 109-77 victory over the Washington Mystics, Reese took the opportunity to address the media and convey her team's determination to improve.

"I think honestly just coming back home, you protect your house,” Reese stated. “You don’t want anybody to come into your house and beat you. Obviously, we don’t like to lose and the way we lost wasn’t something that we wanted." She emphasized the importance of reflection among the players, saying, "I think everybody took a look in the mirror last game and figured out how we can individually be better for the team. I think we came out and did that tonight."

In the impressive matchup, Reese shone on the court, contributing 18 points and an impressive 17 rebounds, marking her fourth consecutive double-double and seventh of the season. Rhyne Howard led the scoring with 19 points, while Allisha Gray added 15 points, and both Jordin Canada and Madina Okot chipped in with 11 points each. Notably, Reese demonstrated her skills at the free-throw line, going a perfect 10-for-10.

Reflecting on her free-throw performance, Reese shared, “I work on [free throws] every single day. I know that I’m gonna get to the free-throw line a lot... It’s just something that I make sure I perfect and something that I can always rely on.” Since joining the Dream in April 2026, Reese has expressed her gratitude for being part of an organization that genuinely cares for its players.

The game also saw Mystics' head coach Sydney Johnson ejected after receiving two technical fouls during the third quarter, following a heated exchange with referees over a foul called against his team. Johnson later acknowledged his loss of composure, stating, “Officials did what was right and appropriate, and that’s all I can say,” while praising the Dream for their performance. As the season progresses, both teams are looking to build on their experiences as they strive for success.
