Around the North: Aaron Rodgers returning to the Steelers in 2026
Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers will face the Cleveland Browns again in 2026 as a member of the AFC North division rival Pittsburgh Steelers. This time, he will do so with a new coach, as Mike Tomlin is no longer the Steelers' head coach. But it's someone that Rodgers is familiar with, former Packers and Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.
Ironically, the duo of Rodgers and McCarthy won the Super Bowl in 2011, beating the Mike Tomlin-led Pittsburgh Steelers, and now, over a decade later, they are in Pittsburgh together. Rodgers signed a one-year deal worth up to $25 million dollars with a large portion of that money guaranteed.
The Steelers used a third-round pick this season to take Drew Allar out of Penn State, and there are already reports that they are working to fix his mechanics. It seemed clear the team didn't think he would be the starter in 2026. The Browns and Steelers will face each other for the first time this season in week four for Thursday Night Football.
