Aston Villa Eyes PSG Talents Ibrahim Mbaye and Lucas Chevalier
Aston Villa appears to be moving closer to securing the services of Ibrahim Mbaye, a striker from Paris Saint-Germain. The club had identified Mbaye as a potential acquisition before the conclusion of the last season, taking note of his impressive development at PSG.
Even after bringing in Tammy Abraham to support Ollie Watkins in January, Villa is still actively seeking a new forward. The 18-year-old Mbaye has gained recognition as one of Europe's standout young strikers and has attracted attention from various elite clubs. He has already made his mark as a regular player for the Senegal national team and is anticipated to participate in the upcoming World Cup.
Mbaye made his debut for the PSG first team in 2024, setting a record as the youngest player to start a match for the club. However, his playing time has been limited, with 31 appearances last season but only 11 starts. His prospects for more playtime may diminish further as PSG looks to recruit another striker, reportedly eyeing Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi.
Villa’s interest extends beyond Mbaye, as they are also contemplating a move for PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier. This potential signing could hinge on the future of Emiliano Martinez, who is reportedly being targeted by Juventus. Chevalier joined PSG last summer as a successor to Gianluigi Donnarumma, who transferred to Manchester City, but had a rocky start and was later replaced by Matvey Safonov.
Additionally, Villa is exploring the option of Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, broadening their search for a suitable player in goal.
