Aurora Secures Eighth Consecutive Shutout with 5-0 Victory
Despite a sudden summer storm that led many fans to leave TCO Stadium on Friday night, the Aurora soccer team maintained their impressive form in Eagan. The Minnesota squad clinched a dominant 5-0 victory over Edgewater Castle FC, with most of their scoring happening in the first half as rain began to fall.
During the opening 45 minutes, the home team showcased their offensive prowess, taking a commanding 4-0 lead. Ai Kitagawa, the leading scorer for the team, netted her eighth goal of the season, while Skye Leach, Jeanette Fields, and Gracie Dunaway also contributed to the scoreline.
The final goal of the match came from Maia Tabion in the 70th minute, although many fans missed this moment due to a stadium evacuation prompted by nearby lightning. The adverse weather conditions forced a temporary halt to the game just after the second half commenced. Fortunately, after about an hour, play resumed, and goalkeeper Isaac Ranson celebrated his second shutout of the season.
With this latest victory, Minnesota's record stands at an impressive 8-0, positioning them at the top of the USL W’s Heartland Division with 24 points. Remarkably, the team has not conceded a single goal in league play thus far.
The Aurora will return to action on Wednesday, hosting Sioux Falls City FC at 7 p.m.
