Australia Unveils ODI Team for Upcoming Bangladesh Tour in 2026
Australia has officially announced its squad for the upcoming one-day international series against Bangladesh, set to kick off on June 9, 2026. This series will mark Australia’s first ODI tour in Bangladesh in 15 years and will consist of three matches.
The team features a blend of youth and experience, with Ollie Peake retaining his place after performing in the recent ODIs against Pakistan. Notably, Todd Murphy, an off-spinner, has been included in the squad, potentially marking his debut in the limited-overs format. He replaces the injured Tanveer Sangha in the lineup.
Unfortunately, several key players will not participate in the early matches. Mitchell Marsh is sidelined due to an ankle injury, while Travis Head is absent for personal reasons. Moreover, captain Pat Cummins, along with pace bowlers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, has been rested as part of a rotation strategy aimed at managing their workloads.
Under the leadership of Josh Inglis, who steps in as captain for this series, the Australian squad also includes rising talents like Cameron Green and Matt Renshaw. The selection allows for younger players like Peake and Liam Scott to gain valuable experience under Asian conditions, aided by IPL performers Xavier Bartlett and Ben Dwarshuis.
The series is part of a broader white-ball tour that will also feature three T20 internationals, offering Australia a comprehensive opportunity to test its squad depth ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
