After Allen tied the game at 3 in the top of the sixth via a walk with the bases loaded, Flower Mound returned the favor the very next inning with Jackson Sartor earning a bases loaded walk and scoring Parker Brann to take the 4-3 lead.

Logan Richards closed things out for Flower Mound in the final frame, sealing the win when a grounder was hit right to him for the third out.

Other Area Results:

Sachse 14, Rockwall-Heath 4 (Game 1):Sachse rolled Rockwall-Heath in one of the area’s few bi-district series between two ranked teams.

Greyson Darden went 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs including a two-run single in the top of the second that kickstarted what eventually became a six-run inning.

Heath mounted an early comeback attempt scoring three runs in the bottom of the third thanks to Mick Randle’s two-run double. But a five-run sixth inning pushed the lead to 10. Sachse’s Jacob Ponce and Colt Upchurch combined for six RBIs as well. Wednesday night was the largest margin of defeat for Heath since its 12-1 loss to Frenship back in February.

Hillcrest 3, Mesquite Poteet 0 (Game 1): Hillcrest blanked Poteet in Game 1 with sophomore Diego Wong throwing a complete game, allowing just four hits and recording 10 strikeouts.

The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth when Carlos Salazar singled off a bunt that scored Hillcrest’s opening run. Jean Pierre Paternina’s triple the next at-bat scored another run before he made his way home via a fielding error at third base. The series returns Thursday at 7 p.m. at Lake Highlands.

Southlake Carroll 2, Boswell 0 (Game 1): Southlake Carroll needed extra innings to knock off Boswell in the first game of the series. Shawn Arterburn’s RBI double scored both Zach Stroud and Gavin Strange in the top of the eighth inning. That ended up being all Carroll needed to take the first game against Boswell.

On the mound, sophomore AJ Bonnette pitched all eight innings and recorded 15 strikeouts while allowing just two hits.
