Bayern Munich Eyeing Givairo Read; Updates on Other Players
Recent reports suggest that Bayern Munich has rekindled its interest in Givairo Read, the right-back from Feyenoord Rotterdam. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano indicated that both Bayern and Manchester City are monitoring Read's situation as the summer transfer window approaches. The Dutch defender has been on the radar of both clubs since December, although it appears unlikely that Bayern will pursue both Nathaniel Brown and Read simultaneously. Instead, Read may serve as a backup option if negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt for Brown fall through.
In other news, FC Köln’s Said El Mala has turned down an enticing offer from Brentford, despite the club's willingness to pay around €50 million for his services. "El Mala and his family have officially informed Brentford that they do not want to join the club," reported Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg. This decision opens up El Mala's future as Bayern Munich, previously interested, seems unlikely to pursue the player further.
Meanwhile, FC Barcelona is reportedly looking into a potential move for Piero Hincapié of Bayer Leverkusen. The versatile defender is currently on loan to Arsenal, which has the option to make the deal permanent for £45 million. However, Arsenal has yet to announce whether they will trigger this option, prompting Barcelona to explore their options for a left-sided center-back.
On the managerial front, Bayer Leverkusen has confirmed the appointment of Carles Martínez as their new coach. The 42-year-old Spaniard has signed a contract until 2028 and is known for his attacking style of play. He replaces Kasper Hjulmand, whose departure was made official following weeks of speculation.
Lastly, Bayern Munich appears to have no intentions of pursuing Sergiño Dest, according to Florian Plettenberg. "No talks. No negotiations," he stated, emphasizing that while Dest is a talented player, he is not a current target for the Bavarians. Instead, Bayern is focused on extending Konrad Laimer’s contract and considering other options in that position.
