BKFC Founder Shares Exciting Developments on Upcoming Tournament and Fighter Status
Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) is gearing up for its most ambitious project to date. Founder David Feldman revealed on Wednesday that the long-anticipated $25 million openweight tournament is officially scheduled for 2027. Initially set to launch last year, the tournament's timeline shifted as Feldman worked to refine the complex plans for the event. During an appearance on Uncrowned’s "The Ariel Helwani Show," he confirmed that all preparations are now complete, and details about the broadcasting network will be unveiled next week.
"We signed a deal last week with the network. Signed, sealed and delivered," Feldman stated. "We're just working on, with the network, the timing." He expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, describing it as a "big network" that would greatly benefit BKFC. Although he did not elaborate on the tournament's format, which aims to feature 64 fighters competing throughout the year, Feldman assured fans that more specifics will be forthcoming.
Meanwhile, Feldman is busy following the impressive BKFC debut of Darren Till, who scored a stunning second-round knockout against Aaron Chalmers over the weekend. This fight was the first of Till's three-fight deal with BKFC, marking a triumphant return since his exit from the UFC earlier this year. Feldman is keen to see Till back in action for the promotion's Manchester event scheduled for September.
"We're going to talk about extending that [contract] a little bit," Feldman mentioned, hinting at potential matchups for the event. The promotion experienced significant viewer interest during Till's debut, which has fueled excitement for his future bouts.
One matchup that fans are eager to see is between Till and fellow former UFC fighter Mike Perry. Their fight has been a topic of discussion for nearly a decade, and even though Perry has had a few bumps in his relationship with BKFC since his boxing match against Jake Paul in 2024, Feldman remains optimistic about organizing this highly anticipated clash. "I'm very confident we can [make it happen]," he added.
Additionally, Feldman commented on the status of Conor McGregor, who, while not yet fought for BKFC, has been involved with the promotion since becoming a part-owner in 2024. As McGregor prepares for his upcoming UFC fight against Max Holloway, Feldman expressed hope that a transition to BKFC could materialize after McGregor's contract with the UFC concludes.
