Broncos Quarterback Bo Nix Makes Significant Progress in Recovery Ahead of Training Camp

The Denver Broncos received positive news on Tuesday as quarterback Bo Nix returned to the field during the team's mandatory minicamp, indicating he is on track for full participation in training camp next month. This marks Nix's first complete offseason practice since undergoing ankle surgery in April.

Though his participation was limited, the second-year quarterback engaged in individual drills and completed passes during the initial phase of practice, showcasing his most substantial on-field involvement with teammates this offseason. The 25-year-old shared that his surgery addressed bone spurs in the same right ankle he injured during the AFC Divisional Round playoff loss last season.

While Nix did not take part in team drills on Tuesday and is expected to maintain a limited role throughout minicamp, both he and the Broncos organization are optimistic about his readiness for the upcoming training camp. Coach Sean Payton expressed confidence in Nix's recovery, stating, “He’s doing well, he’s doing really well. He’ll clearly be ready in time for training camp. … It’s good to have him out here in uniform.”

Nix’s return is crucial for a Broncos team aiming to build on last season's momentum. After being drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, he quickly established himself as a promising quarterback, throwing for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns, while also contributing on the ground. His performance earned him the trust of Payton, positioning him as the franchise's long-term solution at quarterback.

Despite concerns regarding his offseason due to the ankle injury, Nix has maintained that he would be ready for training camp, and his return during minicamp supports that claim. With key veterans back and the Broncos looking to contend for the playoffs again, ensuring Nix's health remains a priority for the organization as they prepare for the 2026 season.
