The reality is that the Boston Bruins, and specifically Nikita Zadorov, were fed up.
And so Zadorov delivered a cross check and subsequent punch to Buffalo Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin after a play for no reason.
It earned Zadorov a ticket out of the game, and it led to some serious feuding before everything settled down.
The Sabres were up 6-0 at the time, and went on to win 6-1.
Buffalo leads the Eastern Conference first round series, three games to one.
And now Zadorov may have earned himself at least some potential for punishment.

Clearly, Dahlin didn't do much. He earned a big whack anyway.
In the post-play scrum, Dahlin stayed out of the way and retreated to the bench with a bemused look on his face.
The Bruins will have to regain their composure in a hurry, because Game 5 is Sunday in Buffalo.
The Sabres hold a big edge at this point, and it will only widen if Zadorov got himself into some extra trouble with this.
