Caio Collet in fiery Indy 500 crash on Lap 193
INDIANAPOLIS — The leading rookie for much of the 2026 Indianapolis 500 climbed from his car after an accident ended his first run at Indianapolis prematurely.
Caio Collet was driving through Turn 2 within the race’s final 10 laps when the No. 4 A. J. Foyt Racing Chevrolet lost traction in the corner. Collet was unable to regain control of the car and struck the outside wall with the right side of the vehicle.
The Brazilian climbed from the car and sat on the side of the machine before entering the safety vehicle. No other cars were involved in the incident.
