The Vancouver Canucks are surely just getting started.
Their first move of trade deadline week is to waive a 28-year old defenseman.
Guillaume Brisebois was placed on waivers on Sunday, announced by the team.
If Brisebois clears waivers, he can remain with AHL Abbotsford.
The move is potentially just procedural, with it essentially removing Brisebois from an NHL roster spot that was accounted for as part of his two-way contract.
Another team could claim Brisebois off waivers, but it's not clear whether that will be the case or not.

The 6-foot-2 lefty was a third-round pick by the Canucks in the 2015 NHL Draft.
He has played 30 games across parts of five different seasons for Vancouver.
The most action he got was 2022-23, when Brisebois played in 17 games and scored a goal with two assists.
He made it into three NHL games last season.
Brisebois has yet to play in the NHL in 2025-26.
He has taken part in 48 games at the AHL level with Abbotsford, where he has two goals and three assists.
The Abbotsford Canucks did win the Calder Cup last postseason, and Brisebois had three points on the run to that championship.
Now, he'll either remain there, slightly further away from a return to the NHL, or another team will snag him off waivers.
