Detroit Grand Prix Sees Ratings Surge for IndyCar on FOX

The latest ratings for the NTT IndyCar Series reveal a significant rise in viewership during the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix aired on FOX. The event, which took place following the 110th Indianapolis 500, attracted 1,167,000 viewers, marking a 10 percent increase from last year's average of 1,061,000 viewers for the same race. Additionally, this figure represents a 15 percent boost compared to the eighth race of last season, held at Gateway, which drew 1,012,000 viewers in primetime on June 15, 2025.

"Sunday’s IndyCar race here in Detroit certainly had plenty of action on track and we’re excited to see a 10 percent increase in viewership year over year," stated Roger Penske, IndyCar owner and Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. "The Detroit results build on the positive momentum from the Indianapolis 500, while continuing IndyCar’s strong second season working with our partners at FOX."

Viewership for the Detroit race surged by 35 percent compared to last year's average of 867,000 viewers for non-Indy 500 Sunday races on FOX. This year marked the highest viewership for the Detroit IndyCar race since the series returned to a single race format in 2022, with the event peaking at 1,524,000 viewers between 2:45 and 2:52 PM Eastern Time.

Overall, FOX's coverage of IndyCar is averaging 2,241,000 viewers across eight races, reflecting a 12 percent increase from last year's average of 2,007,000 viewers during the same period. This performance is noted as the best start to an IndyCar season since the series merged in 2008.

"As we continue to put effort into growing the series, it’s really exciting to see the viewers following along," commented Jacob Ullman, FOX Sports SVP Production & Talent Development. "Double-digit growth at Detroit is great to see, and with the FIFA World Cup upcoming, FOX IndyCar coverage will have unique opportunities to engage large, new audiences in the coming month. It’s an exciting time for everyone involved."
