Eliot Wolf issues Year 2 challenge to Patriots rookie WR Kyle Williams
New England Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf issued a challenge to wide receiver Kyle Williams when speaking with media members at the NFL combine.
Everyone knows Williams has blazing speed, but he wants to see the talented young receiver evolve into an even better player in Year 2. There are still high hopes that he can be a key contributor on offense at some point.
"Kyle played in every game. He was available. The way we used him was more of a speed player, which he definitely has, but I think he's got more in him that he could show. He's gotta get stronger. I think he'd be the first one to tell you that," Wolf told reporters.
Williams is coming off a rookie season that saw him record 10 receptions for 209 yards and three touchdowns. He had a knack for the big play this season, with a 72-yard grab against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being his longest of the season. He also had a crucial 37-yard touchdown reception against the Baltimore Ravens.
All three of his receiving touchdowns were over 30 yards in length.

The Patriots have a clear need for a player with Williams' skill set, but they would like to see him be more consistent when given opportunities. He flashed his potential in spurts during his rookie campaign. The hope now is that he can make a Year 2 leap as a legitimate offensive weapon for the Patriots in 2026 and beyond.
