Elite Point Guard Davion Thompson Chooses Arkansas for College Career

Davion Thompson, a highly regarded prospect in the 2027 recruiting class, has officially announced his commitment to the University of Arkansas, as reported by Rivals. The talented point guard expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Arkansas felt like home.” He emphasized his confidence in Coach Cal, noting, “Coach Cal has done it with so many guards before me. I believe he can help me reach my goals.”

The 6-foot-2 four-star player from Link Academy in Missouri is seen as a potential reclassification candidate and opted for the Razorbacks over other prominent programs like Baylor, Michigan, and Vanderbilt. Currently ranked as the No. 22 overall player in the Rivals Industry Ranking, Thompson has been excelling this spring while playing for Meanstreets on the EYBL Circuit.

The Bolingbrook, Illinois native has been impressive on the court, averaging 21.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game, with an impressive shooting percentage of nearly 52% from beyond the arc. In a prior discussion with Rivals, Thompson highlighted the appealing aspects of the Arkansas basketball program, saying, “Just the culture they have and the reputation that Coach Cal has. He has a lot of guards that come through, and he puts them in the NBA and in the best position to chase their dreams.”

He also mentioned the importance of the coaching staff's support, noting, “They’ve been on me since I was a sophomore or junior, so I have a good relationship with them. I like the visit when I went up there. Everything was good.” Thompson's commitment represents a significant addition to Arkansas's recruiting efforts as they look to build a competitive program.
