Endrick Yet to Start for Brazil in World Cup Amid High Hopes
Brazilian fans are buzzing with anticipation over the inclusion of 19-year-old sensation Endrick in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, the young talent has yet to secure a starting position in the tournament.
Currently signed with Real Madrid after a stint with Lyon in Ligue 1, where he netted five goals in 16 matches, Endrick's journey began in the Palmeiras youth academy. He made his senior debut for Brazil in 2023 and boasts a total of 17 caps and four goals for the national team.
Despite being part of Brazil's squad for the World Cup, Endrick has not seen any action in the starting lineup for either of the first two games. He remained on the bench during the opening match against Morocco, which ended in a 1-1 draw, and did not play in the subsequent match against Haiti.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti has opted for Matheus Cunha in the starting role, keeping established players like Raphinha and Vini Jr. on the field. Ancelotti expressed confidence in Endrick's potential, stating, "I'll bring Endrick on at the right moment. We'll have to wait a little while. He'll be important in this World Cup. For me, personally, Endrick is an extraordinary talent." Fans are hoping that a potential blowout against Haiti might allow Endrick to make his mark on the tournament.
