Erie Otters Select Colin Kennedy as Second Overall Pick in OHL Draft

On June 12, Colin Kennedy officially became a member of the Erie Otters, a franchise with ties to his family history through former coach Chris Hartsburg. The Otters selected the promising forward as the second overall choice during the Ontario Hockey League’s priority selection draft.

This year marked a return to a live, in-person draft format for the league, the first since 2000, with the event taking place at Slush Puppie Place in Kingston, Ontario. Kennedy, who recently celebrated his 16th birthday on March 11, joins the Otters after a strong performance with the Little Caesars U15 AAA team, where he played in 20 games. The young talent tallied 24 goals and 12 assists for the Detroit-based team, in addition to contributing five goals and two assists in the OHL Cup.

The Otters made their move for Kennedy shortly after the Oshawa Generals selected center Kane Cloutier with the top pick. This story will continue to develop as more information becomes available.
