ESPN Poised to Appoint Dave Pasch and Bob Wischusen as New NFL Commentators

ESPN is reportedly narrowing its choices for the play-by-play announcers for its non-Monday Night Football games this season, with Dave Pasch and Bob Wischusen emerging as the frontrunners. According to Andrew Marchand from The Athletic, Chris Fowler will step away from NFL broadcasts but will continue his role as the leading voice for college football on the network.

Marchand's latest update indicates that Pasch and Wischusen are likely to share the broadcasting duties for the eight NFL games ESPN will air. Pasch, who has been with ESPN and ABC since 2003, is recognized for his consistent presence in college football, basketball, and NBA coverage. Wischusen, on the other hand, has served as a play-by-play announcer for college sports and has been the radio voice for the New York Jets since 2022.

This shift comes as ESPN prepares to revamp its secondary broadcast team, especially with a schedule featuring numerous international matchups. The current trio of Fowler, Dan Orlovsky, and Louis Riddick may still make occasional appearances, but their commitments limit their availability for these games.

As for who will partner with Pasch and Wischusen, Marchand noted that ESPN is exploring options for a color commentator. While Jason Kelce is being considered for a role, it appears he may not be available for every game, leaving room for former NFL players like Kurt Warner or Riddick to step in. Both Pasch and Wischusen will maintain their college football responsibilities when not on NFL assignments.
