Outfielder Evan Bottone Transfers from Marshall to South Carolina
Outfielder Evan Bottone, who previously played for Marshall, has officially announced his commitment to South Carolina through a social media post. Bottone enjoyed a standout season with the Thundering Herd after moving from Akron.
During his time at Marshall, Bottone showcased his talent by achieving a remarkable .381 batting average, starting in all 54 games he played. He also recorded eight home runs and 41 runs batted in, along with an impressive .475 on-base percentage.
Before his successful stint at Marshall, Bottone spent two years at Akron, where he had a significant breakout season in 2025. As a sophomore, he batted .315 with two home runs and 27 RBIs, leading the Zips with 21 multi-hit games.
Now, he is set to join the Gamecocks under new head coach Kevin Schnall, adding to the program's expanding roster from the transfer portal. Bottone expressed his enthusiasm for this new chapter, stating, “Excited for this new journey!”
