Fillmore Central Junior Secures Top-10 Finish at State Golf Championship
BECKER — Brody Srsen, a junior from Fillmore Central, demonstrated remarkable skill and determination at the Class 1A boys golf state tournament. After completing Day 1 with a score of 5-over-par 77, he found himself in a competitive position, surrounded by 20 golfers closely trailing him on the leaderboard. Srsen elevated his game during the final round at Pebble Creek Golf Club, achieving a score of 2-over-par 74, which brought his total to 7-over-par 151 and placed him in the top 10.
This year's performance marks a significant improvement for Srsen compared to his previous state appearances, where he finished 78th and 71st. As a junior, his experience on the Pebble Creek course and his mental approach to the high-stakes environment of a state tournament have clearly paid off. Throughout the final round, Srsen recorded nine pars and four birdies, all of which came in a five-hole span between the seventh and eleventh holes, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.
In the tournament's overall standings, Section 1-1A medalist Jack Brogle finished in a tie for 11th place with a total score of 152 (74-78). The championship was claimed by Heritage Christian Academy, whose team shot a combined score of 603, winning by seven strokes over Central Minnesota Christian, who earned a total of 610. The Rushford-Peterson team finished sixth, with brothers Will and Sam Lafleur leading their squad, both tying for 39th place with a score of 161.
This year's tournament highlighted the growing talent in Minnesota high school golf, with Srsen's performance being a standout example of hard work and resilience.
