Barcelona battled past a typically dogged Getafe to go 11 points clear at the top of La Liga with a 2-0 win at Estadio Coliseum.

Following Real Madrid's dramatic 1-1 draw at Real Betis on Friday night, Barcelona made their rivals pay with a victory at a venue where they were winless in their previous five visits.

A first half of few chances ended with Fermin Lopez breaking the resistance of a Getafe side who had conceded only 32 times in as many La Liga matches before this weekend.

Hansi Flick was frustrated by some wasteful moments after the break and needed a phenomenal clearance over his own crossbar by Pau Cubarsi to preserve the lead inside the final 20 minutes.

A few moments later, Barca repelled a long throw into the area, Robert Lewandowski sent a raking ball forward and substitute Marcus Rashford darted through on goal to slot home and seal the points.
