Haiti Alters World Cup 2026 Jerseys Following FIFA Objection

Haiti has made a last-minute adjustment to their World Cup 2026 jerseys after FIFA raised concerns about potential violations regarding political messaging. As the team prepares to face Scotland in their opening match of Group C in Boston this Saturday, the original shirt design featured a depiction of a war scene from Haiti's fight for independence.

Saeta, the manufacturer responsible for the jerseys, announced on Wednesday that they collaborated with the Haitian Football Federation to modify the design. The original concept was meant to "celebrate the pride, resilience, and spirit" of the Haitian people, with Saeta clarifying that they did not intend for it to convey a political message.

According to Saeta, FIFA determined during a review that some visual elements in the design could be interpreted in a way that contravenes its equipment regulations, leading to a request for changes. "While this interpretation differed from our intention, Saeta respected the process and implemented the final requirements communicated by FIFA," the company stated.

Neither FIFA, the Haitian Football Federation, nor the team's media representative provided immediate comments when contacted by Reuters for additional insights.

The World Cup is a significant event that often brings national pride and attention to participating countries, making the integrity of team representations crucial.
