Héctor Rodríguez Achieves Rare Cycle in Louisville Bats' Dominant Victory

Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Héctor Rodríguez accomplished a remarkable feat by hitting for the cycle during the Triple-A Louisville Bats' overwhelming 20-5 victory over the Iowa Cubs. This impressive performance marked the first cycle for the Bats since 2023.

Rodríguez, who is currently ranked fifth among the Reds' top prospects according to MLB Pipeline, showcased his hitting prowess with a single in the opening inning, followed by a home run in the fourth, a double in the fifth, and a triple in the sixth.

In addition to Rodríguez's standout performance, teammate TJ Friedl contributed significantly with four hits and five runs scored. Rodríguez previously made headlines by hitting three home runs in a single game during a 10-5 win against St. Paul on May 27.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Rodríguez is now part of an exclusive group, being only the sixth player to hit for the cycle and record a three-homer game within a two-week timeframe. The others on this list include baseball legends Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Jim King, Adrian Beltre, and Jose Altuve.

Rodríguez, along with pitcher José Acuña, joined the Reds as part of a trade in 2022 that involved sending outfielder Tyler Naquin and minor league pitcher Phillip Diehl to the New York Mets.
