Henry Patten's Father Celebrates Son's Historic Achievement as World No. 1

Matthew Patten, the proud father of tennis star Henry Patten, expressed his elation over his son's recent ascension to the world No. 1 ranking in doubles tennis, attributing it to a remarkable year of dedication and effort. Henry, who hails from the quaint town of Manningtree in Essex, and his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara faced disappointment at the French Open final last Saturday, yet they found solace in their top ranking in the ATP standings as the leading doubles players. Had Patten and Heliovaara emerged victorious in Paris, Henry would have made history as the first British player to win the men's doubles title there in the Open era. Matthew reflected on the pride every parent feels when witnessing their child's accomplishments, saying, "Whether it's a five-year-old or a 30-year-old like Henry, that feeling doesn't change."

Ruth Stocks, the mayor of Manningtree, echoed Matthew's sentiments, stating, "We are incredibly proud of Henry for representing our small town on such a grand stage." After the match, Henry noted, "This is an amazing achievement and something we've been striving for. Reaching the number one spot reflects our consistency throughout the year." The duo previously claimed the doubles titles at Wimbledon in 2024 and the Australian Open in 2025.
