Hurricanes Fans Wave Rally Towels to Ignite Stanley Cup Spirit

During the Carolina Hurricanes' pursuit of the Stanley Cup, fans were treated to rally towels at watch parties, including a spirited gathering at the Lenovo Center. These towels are a key feature of the playoff atmosphere, handed out at both the Lenovo Center and the Red Hat Amphitheater for the Stanley Cup Final events.

Ashley Mason, the Canes Art Director, shared that each game features a unique towel design, with approximately 20,000 towels ordered for every matchup. "How do we make this the loudest house?" Mason asked, emphasizing the importance of a vibrant atmosphere in boosting the team's performance. "This year, we've definitely tried to keep the atmosphere up because it does seem like the team plays better when the fans are really going."

Nicholas Oeter, a part-time graphic designer for the Hurricanes, added, "It's a small part to a fan's experience on a game day, but it's a big tool to express their emotion."

In addition to the fan excitement, local businesses are capitalizing on the surge of enthusiasm surrounding the Hurricanes. Jon Pugh, owner of House of Swank, has been designing special merchandise to celebrate the team's playoff run. He recounted an early morning text from a customer requesting a new design, which he promptly created and launched online by noon.

"We all know there's basketball played here. Yes, there's other stuff that played here, but it was truly a hockey town so here we go," Pugh remarked, highlighting the community's deep-rooted hockey culture.
