Jacob Misiorowski Sets New MLB Benchmarks with Dominant Performance
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski is making headlines as he continues to break Major League Baseball records. In a stunning display during a complete-game shutout against the Philadelphia Phillies at American Family Field, Misiorowski (8-2) recorded 15 strikeouts, marking the highest total for any pitcher this season.
Notably, he became the first pitcher in the modern era to achieve at least 15 strikeouts, allow one or fewer runs, and face a minimum of 27 batters in a single game. Misiorowski also set a new record with a fastball reaching 104.5 mph, the fastest recorded pitch to date.
Additionally, the right-hander accomplished a rare "Maddux," completing a shutout with fewer than 100 pitches. Misiorowski's dominance was evident as he faced a daunting challenge from Bryce Harper, who had previously fared well against him but went hitless in three at-bats, including a strikeout where he swung and missed three times.
In just 95 pitches, Misiorowski, who has allowed only one earned run since late April, induced a remarkable 26 swings and misses. Entering the matchup, he was one of only two pitchers in the league, alongside Grant Taylor of the Chicago White Sox, to maintain an earned-run average below 2.00 while averaging at least 13 strikeouts per nine innings. He exceeded both metrics in the 6-0 victory over Philadelphia.
Misiorowski's impressive performance adds to a growing list of achievements for the young pitcher, further establishing his reputation in the league.
