Jim Nagy Secures Contract Extension and Raise as OU Football General Manager
Jim Nagy, the general manager for Oklahoma football, has been awarded a new contract following approval from the OU Board of Regents during their meeting on Tuesday. This new agreement not only includes a salary increase but also extends Nagy’s tenure through 2030.
Under the terms of the updated contract, Nagy’s salary will rise to $1 million for the current year, with an annual increment of $100,000 each subsequent year. His average yearly compensation will increase from $850,000 to $1.15 million, bringing the total value of his new deal to approximately $4.6 million. This marks a significant enhancement from his prior contract, which was worth $2.55 million over three years.
Nagy has made substantial contributions to the program since his appointment in spring 2025, particularly in the areas of player evaluation, recruitment, and signing strategies. His efforts have placed the Sooners' 2027 recruiting class among the nation’s top five. Recognized as one of the premier college football general managers, he boasts a rich background in NFL scouting, leading many to speculate that he may eventually transition to a general manager role in the NFL.
This contract extension underscores the positive impact Nagy has had on the Sooners and reflects the confidence the university places in his leadership as they continue to build a competitive team.
