When Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje announced for Duke recently, it developed very quickly, but obviously, it was great news for Duke.
Still just 16, Boumtje Boumtje is a bit of an unknown quality, but performances like this are helping to bring his game into focus.
It’s not just that he can take the ball to the basket, or that he has a nice three point shot that often barely disturbs the net.
It’s also the confident ball handling and passing. Comparing players is generally a bad idea, but if you see a bit of Paolo Banchero in his game, well, we do too.
It’s too early to talk about starting lineups and rotations, but ask yourself this: what would you do if Duke came at you with a front line of Patrick Ngongba, Cameron Wiliams, and Boumtje Boumtje?
That could be absolutely devastating.
