Kyle Klein Appointed as New Head Coach of Delsea Football Program
Kyle Klein has been appointed the new head coach of the prestigious Delsea Regional High School football team, as confirmed by the school board on Wednesday evening. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Klein will also teach health and physical education at the school. “It’s an honor to take over such a historic program at Delsea, so many legendary coaches and great accomplishments by so many of their teams, I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity,” he stated.
Delsea's athletic director, Ken Schoudt, expressed enthusiasm about Klein's arrival, saying, “We’re excited to welcome Coach Klein to our Crusader family. From the very first time we sat down with Kyle, it was clear that he possesses the experience, attitude, and energy needed to lead this program.” Schoudt emphasized their shared commitment to fostering a strong athletic culture, highlighting Klein’s potential impact on both student-athletes and the broader school community.
Klein is eager to begin his new role and assures Delsea football fans that he is “all in, all the time.” He remarked, “I don’t have any hobbies, I’ve got my kids and wife and then I have football. (The program) is getting a coach who is a true student of the game and wants to be a strong mentor in developing these kids into strong football players and strong young adults.” While he intends to maintain the team’s physical style of play, Klein plans to introduce a more “modern look” to the Crusaders' offense, utilizing the shotgun formation.
Klein's hiring follows the departure of Jason Volpe, who led the team for two seasons, finishing with a record of 8-13. Klein is the second head coach in as many years for Delsea, which previously had only two coaches in its first 64 years. Klein’s prior experience at Buena, where he coached for two seasons, has equipped him with the skills needed for this new challenge, as he noted, “You take over a small Group 1 program, you learn how to do everything.”
A graduate of Atlantic City High School in 2012, Klein previously served as head coach at Buena, where he achieved a 7-12 record. His journey also includes a brief stint as head coach at Pleasantville, which ended before he could lead a game, and coaching roles at Cedar Creek and Oakcrest. He is determined to leverage this diverse experience to elevate Delsea’s football program.
