Kyle Schwarber Returns to First Base, Hits MLB-Leading 25th Home Run

In a bid to enhance the team's defense, Mattingly chose to deploy Schwarber at first base, a role he hadn't occupied since the 2021 American League Championship Series with the Boston Red Sox.

Schwarber's start marked his first appearance at first base in nearly 1,700 days, making it a significant moment for both the player and the team. This homer also marked a milestone for Schwarber, as it was his 212th career home run with the Phillies. This achievement places him 10th on the franchise's all-time home run list, surpassing notable players like Alex Rodriguez and David Ortiz. The franchise record is held by Mike Schmidt, who hit 548 home runs during his illustrious career.

Schwarber's power hitting continues to draw comparisons to baseball greats, as he ranks among the top home run hitters in their first five seasons with a new team. In this category, he trails only legends like Babe Ruth and Mark McGwire.
