Miami Heat Eye Four-Team Trade Involving Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kawhi Leonard

As trade discussions heat up around the Miami Heat, fans are eager for the three-time NBA champions to make a significant move this summer. There are strong indications that Miami is aiming to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks, leveraging their roster depth and draft assets to facilitate such a high-profile trade.

Despite the buzz surrounding Antetokounmpo, CBS Sports’ Brad Botkin suggests that the Heat might pivot towards securing a different star: Kawhi Leonard, a former San Antonio Spurs player. Botkin envisions a complex four-team trade that would involve Miami, the Boston Celtics, and the Bucks, with Leonard ending up in Miami, while the Clippers would receive Jaylen Brown, and the Bucks would obtain the Clippers' fifth overall draft pick along with additional assets.

Botkin also pointed out that if the Clippers do not trade Leonard this summer, they might be compelled to consider moving him during the trade deadline. Leonard, who is slated to earn $50.3 million this season and will become a free agent in 2027, represents a valuable asset that the Clippers might not want to lose for nothing.

For the Heat, acquiring Leonard could serve as a solid backup plan if their pursuit of Antetokounmpo does not materialize. While Antetokounmpo is three years younger than Leonard, the latter’s ability to impact the game is undeniable. In the 2025-26 season, Leonard showcased his skills by averaging 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.9 steals per game, with impressive shooting percentages of 50.5% from the field and 38.7% from beyond the arc.

In a competitive Eastern Conference, adding a player like Leonard could significantly enhance the Heat's chances of success.
