Mound gems abound in NAC softball

Mound gems abounded across NAC girls softball action Monday.

In the NAC West, Hermon-DeKalb blanked Hammond 17-0 and Morristown checked Lisbon 2-0.

In the NAC East, Norwood-Norfolk bested Chateaugay 20-5 and in the Central Division, Canton quieted Gouverneur 19-3 to take control of the division race while St. Lawrence downed Malone 6-2 and Massena beat OFA 16-6.

H-D 17 - Hammond 0: Maya Green and Lauren Bishop combined on a 14-strikeout no-hitter and Green stroked three hits to drive in three runs in the Green Demons’ Senior Day game. Peyton Wright and Lauren Holland singled twice and Bishop, Nellie French and Ella Sharpe all singled.

“It was a nice game on Senior Night, contributions all the way around,” said H-D Coach Bob Bice.

Morristown 24 - Lisbon 0: Makia Green pitched a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and stroked two singles and scored four runs along with Cambree King. Nadia Leagault provided a huge spark in the ninth spot in the MCS batting order with two doubles and a single and five RBIs. Reese Murdock rapped a double and two singles, Scarlett Ritchie doubled and singled and Aria Simons and Khloee Moore singled.

Arianna Kingsley singled for the lone Lisbon hit.

Canton 19 - Gouv 3:Tessa Alguire (6 innings) and Elle White (1 inning) combined on a 13 strikeout 3-hitter and Jenna Larrabee belted a homerun and a single to spark the winning offense along with Alguire who tripled and singled and White who singled three times. Hope Dollman singled twice and Elise Harvey and Layla Clifford added singles.

Arianna Wood Raegan Devlin and Emily Hance singled for Gouverneur.

SLC 6 - Malone 2: Brianna Williams limited Malone to two hits and Stella Todd belted a homerun and singled for SLC. Mary Cate Dow doubled, Cam Miner singled twice and A. Marcil, Williams, Maddy Bernard and Savannah Jandreau all singled.

Calleigh Synder doubled for Malone and Cam Keating added a single.

N-N 20 - Chateaugay 5: Kali Burdette struck out 16 batters as the Flyers stayed unbeaten atop the NAC East standings. Rhylee Conte tripled and singled, Nicolina Frederick and Olivia Plonka lined a double and two singles and Angelina Favreau singled and doubled to lead the winning offense.

Katelyn Plonka, Claire Shoen, Gabby Brabant and Mackenzie Leashomb all singled.

Makaya Carosella singled three times for Chateaugay and Ainsley Crawford and Blaylyn Nichols singled.

Massena 16 - OFA 6: The Blue Devils settled down defensively after an eight-run first inning but couldn’t overcome the fast start by the Raiders who were sparked by three singles by Stella Kelso, two singles by Emma Guslaw and four runs scored by Katie Ledbetter.

Lauren Bouchard, Amya LaFlair and Lydia Power each singled.
