MSU football moves pair of games this season to Friday night

Michigan State football will book end its home slate of games on Friday nights this year.

It was announced on Friday that the Spartans have moved up a pair of games to Friday nights instead of a traditional Saturday matchup. That includes the season-opener against Toledo, which will now be played on September 4, and the final home game of the season against Oregon, which will now be played on November 20.

Kickoff time for the Spartans' opener against Toledo has not yet been announced, but the matchup against the Ducks in late November will be nationally televised on FOX and kickoff at 8 p.m. ET.

Opening the season on the Friday night of Labor Day Weekend has became a tradition for the Spartans, with Michigan State essentially doing this every year (except a few times) since 2011. The new FOX television deal has also made Friday night conference games a more regular thing, with Michigan State playing at Oregon and home vs. Purdue both on Friday night in 2024.

With the announcement of two more night games, Michigan State is up to three known primetime games for this upcoming season. It was announced earlier this week that Michigan State's road game at Notre Dame will be a night time kickoff as well.
