NBA Expert Suggests Sabonis Trade to Hornets is Unlikely

As the 2026 NBA Draft draws near, all eyes are on the Charlotte Hornets, who are in possession of two valuable first-round picks, specifically the 14th and 18th overall selections. There had been speculation earlier this week that one of these picks might be utilized to facilitate a trade for Domantas Sabonis from the Sacramento Kings, potentially enhancing Charlotte's frontcourt capabilities.

However, NBA analyst Sam Amick has indicated that a deal between the two teams may not materialize. Amick noted that while the Hornets have "genuine interest" in acquiring Sabonis, the likelihood of a trade happening is "pretty unlikely." He added that Charlotte is inclined to retain both of their first-round picks during this draft.

Regardless of the trade talks, the Hornets are expected to be a focal point during the draft, thanks in part to their surprising performance last season and the strategic options they have this summer.
