Oregon baseball's path through Big Ten Tournament revealed
The field is set, and now the Oregon Ducks just have to wait and see who they will take on in Omaha, Nebraska, in the Big Ten Tournament.
The Ducks secured the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament on Saturday after outlasting the USC Trojans in a marathon game to close out the regular season. Burke-Lee Mabeus laid down a perfect bunt with two outs in the 14th inning, scoring Brayden Jaksa to capture the series against the Trojans and jump them in the Big Ten standings.
Now, by earning a top-four seed, the Ducks will get a bye from the first two rounds of the tournament. Oregon won't take the field in Omaha until Friday, May 22. The games the Ducks need to keep an eye on are clear. No. 7 Michigan will take on No. 10 Rutgers, and No. 6 Ohio State will battle No. 11 Washington.

The winners of those two games will face each other, and the Ducks will face the winner of that second game.
The Ducks will face one of the four programs, and those teams will already have spent some pitching. The tournament begins on Tuesday, meaning whoever Oregon faces on Friday will have already taxed their pitching staff through two games.
The Ducks took two games from Washington in Seattle earlier this month, but they lost a series at Michigan in April. Oregon has not played against Rutgers or Ohio State this season.
The first two rounds of the tournament are double elimination. However, once Oregon's portion of the bracket begins, it is single elimination. If the Ducks lose one game, they're out. If the Ducks can win their first game, they will take on the winner of the game between No. 2 Nebraska and the qualifier they face.
The championship game is scheduled for Sunday, and Oregon could boost its resume even more with a deep run in the tournament. By beating USC on Saturday, the Ducks moved up to No. 16 in the RPI rankings, strengthening their position to host a regional. The chances of that happening are high, but if Oregon is upset in their first game in the conference tournament, the Ducks could be holding their breath on Selection Monday.
