Oregon Secures Commitment from Rising Three-Star Edge Rusher Josh Christensen
The Oregon Ducks have successfully added another talent to their roster, as three-star edge rusher Josh Christensen announced his commitment on Friday. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound prospect, hailing from Lake Oswego High School, opted for Oregon over the Washington Huskies, marking a significant win for Coach Dan Lanning’s program.
Christensen had taken official visits to several colleges, including Illinois and Oklahoma, but his recent trips to Washington on June 5 and Oregon on June 12 were seen as pivotal. It has become apparent that the competition was primarily between these two Pacific Northwest rivals, with Oregon ultimately coming out on top.
His stock has risen substantially in recent weeks, earning a spot as the No. 627 overall recruit and the No. 53 edge rusher in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Although he would have bolstered Washington's defensive lineup, the Huskies are now facing a dwindling number of available slots, particularly in their defensive line unit.
Currently, Washington has secured commitments from four-star defensive tackles Jon Ioane and Tevita Nonu, along with two edge rushers: four-star Chaz Gray and three-star Matamatagi Uiagalelei. While Gray is expected to develop on the edge, Uiagalelei demonstrates versatility, potentially filling multiple positions along the defensive front.
With Christensen's decision, only two uncommitted defensive linemen remain who have visited Washington: four-star Sam LeJeune and three-star Jag Ioane. This development continues to shape the recruiting landscape for both Oregon and Washington as they build their future rosters.
