Patriots star calls Mike Vrabel 'great human being' as Dianna Russini scandal swirls

Drake Maye won't stop praising his New England Patriots head coach, even as the controversy involving former Athletic insider Dianna Russini continues to swirl.

Back in April, the star quarterback said, "We're here for Coach, we love Coach. What he's done for us this past year, you can't speak into words. I'm thankful he's our head coach and know he's doing some stuff off the field and out of the coaching world, but we're here for him and I know he's gonna come back."

This time? He told the Associated Press that Vrabel is "a great human being" and that the scandal won't be the dreaded "D" word after the Patriots came off a year in which they made it to the Super Bowl.

"He's our head coach," he added. "I think he's done a great job of talking to us and talking us through it. I'm just looking forward to getting back to work and getting ready."

We'll see if that's the case.
