Pedrinho Defends Vasco’s Deal Amid Bap's Legal Threats

The ongoing discussions regarding the sale of 90% of Vasco’s SAF to Marcos Lamacchia, the stepson of Palmeiras president Leila Pereira, have reignited tensions. On Sunday, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, the president of Flamengo, announced intentions to take legal action should the deal proceed, prompting a sharp response from Vasco's president, Pedrinho.

In an interview with ge, Pedrinho criticized Bap for what he termed an “obsession” with interfering in the affairs of others. He stated, “I don’t know whether Bap’s obsession with sticking his nose into other people’s business is some kind of unresolved personal issue.” He firmly asserted that Leila Pereira is not involved in the negotiations with Lamacchia, emphasizing that Vasco's dealings are legitimate and above board.

Further addressing Bap's claims, Pedrinho remarked, “Instead of talking about what he doesn’t know and inventing conflicts where none exist, Bap should focus that energy on dealing with his own issues.” He assured fans that any transaction would be handled transparently and properly, with all necessary approvals sought from relevant authorities.

Leila Pereira also weighed in on the situation, reiterating her commitment to Palmeiras, where she is set to serve as president until December 2027. “I’m tired of saying that I am Palmeiras’ president... I have absolutely nothing to do with Vasco,” she stated, dismissing Bap’s comments as unfounded.

Negotiations for the potential sale to Lamacchia, who is connected to financial firm Crefisa through his family, suggest that the deal could be valued at approximately R$ 2 billion. As the discussions progress, both clubs remain at the center of a heated public debate.
