GAYLORD — The Petoskey baseball team continues its impressive streak, having secured their seventh consecutive district title. On Saturday in Gaylord, the Northmen triumphed in the Division 2 district tournament, further solidifying their status in local sports history. Their journey began with a decisive 13-1 victory over Cheboygan, followed by a hard-fought 4-2 win against the host Gaylord Blue Devils.
In the championship match, the teams were tied 2-2 going into the final inning. Pitcher Dylan Aukeman showcased his skills, striking out six batters while allowing just five hits and one walk throughout the game.
In addition to Aukeman's stellar performance, Tate Russell contributed significantly with a 2-for-3 hitting record and an RBI, while Beckett Blake and Pool also added runs. With their current record standing at 24-8, Petoskey is set to face Escanaba in a regional semifinal on June 3 in Kingsford.
