Budden revealed that the disruption was due to a “power outage” at Devon Park, where the game was taking place. After a delay of roughly a half-hour, ABC successfully resumed coverage towards the end of the third inning. However, the broadcast returned with limited resources, featuring only one camera angle positioned behind home plate and lacking any visual score updates. Ironically, as announcer Beth Mowins addressed the audience about the technical difficulties, the feed cut to a commercial break.

In a light-hearted moment, Budden reassured fans, saying, “For those of you who have been waiting for the Women’s College World Series, they are still dealing with technical difficulties, but we are gonna get it right back out to ABC right now in the best form that we can.” By the time the fifth inning rolled around, all graphics and multiple camera angles were restored, allowing the game to proceed smoothly.
