An Argentine television host has stepped down following a false report regarding the health of Lionel Messi's father during a live broadcast. Florencia Pena made the erroneous announcement while presenting on Luzu TV, shortly after Argentina's victory over Algeria in their opening World Cup match. The Messi family later released a statement confirming that Jorge Messi, Lionel's father, is currently receiving treatment for an undisclosed health issue. They emphasized that the 68-year-old is stable and recovering, while also condemning the rampant speculation about his condition and requesting privacy during this challenging time.
