"Protect College Sports Act" Faces Delay Ahead of Midterm Elections

The "Protect College Sports Act" has made significant progress, recently passing a crucial stage in the Senate Commerce Committee, which positions it for a potential vote on the Senate floor. However, recent reports suggest that any further action is unlikely before the upcoming midterm elections in November.

According to John Ourand of Puck, a source from Capitol Hill indicated that the Senate lacks the capacity to address the bill at this time. “The Senate doesn’t have the bandwidth to do this right now,” the source stated. “I mean, I’ll even go a step further. I don’t think anything gets done in the Senate before November, let alone a controversial bill like this.”

With only 39 days remaining in the current legislative session and a 19-9 vote in the Commerce Committee highlighting existing opposition, the bill’s future remains uncertain. Should the "Protect College Sports Act" fail to advance before Election Day, the shifting political landscape could reset the legislative process entirely.
