Garrett Crochet entered this season as an expected contender for the 2026 AL Cy Young award.

Roman Anthony was discussed by some as a possible darkhorse candidate for this season's AL MVP.

Both Crochet and Anthony have battled inconsistencies over the spring though and the pair are among a host of players currently on the Boston Red Sox's injured list.

Interim manager Chad Tracy gave updates on Anthony (wrist) and Crochet (shoulder) -- among other players -- ahead of Tuesday's home contest vs. the Philadelphia Phillies.

"Lots of injury updates from Tracy. Among the highlights. - Still no baseball activities for Roman Anthony. - Willson Contreras taking batting practice, feeling much better. - Garrett Crochet played catch off the mound, still progressing," Mac Cerullo of The Boston Herald posted on Bluesky.

"Contreras hit in the cage and feeling better but they’re giving him one more day Anthony progessing but still no baseball activities. Full grip strength to grip a bat is his next test Crochet also progressing and just began throwing off a mound. He’d gotten out to 120 on Sun," The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey wrote on Bluesky.

Crochet hasn't pitched since April 25 and is 3-3 with a 6.30 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 37 strikeouts across 30 innings (six starts) in 2026.

Anthony last played on May 4 and has been limited to 30 contests this season, recording one home run, five RBIs and a .229/.354/.321 slash line across 130 plate appearances.

The Red Sox have won four of their last six games and are 17-23 coming into the home set vs. the Phillies.
