Rhyne Howard Leads Atlanta Dream to 91-75 Victory Over Connecticut Sun

(AP) — In a commanding performance, Rhyne Howard scored 36 points, including eight three-pointers, while Allisha Gray contributed 26 points as the Atlanta Dream triumphed over the Connecticut Sun with a final score of 91-75 on Tuesday night. This victory marks the Dream's fourth consecutive win in their matchup against the Sun.
Howard and Gray were instrumental in the first half, combining for 40 of Atlanta's 50 points. Howard showcased her shooting prowess, going 8-for-14 from the field with five three-pointers for 22 points. Gray also had an impressive outing, hitting 5-of-10 attempts, including three from beyond the arc, to finish the half with 18 points. The rest of the team managed to score only four points in that span.
Angel Reese sparked a momentum shift for Atlanta, nailing her first three-pointer as part of a 7-0 run at the end of the third quarter, giving the Dream a 68-65 lead. Atlanta continued their strong performance into the fourth, scoring the first seven points to establish a 10-point advantage.
Howard's seventh three-pointer came with just over three minutes left, extending the lead to 80-69, and her eighth sealed a 12-point cushion. For Connecticut, Aneesah Morrow led the way with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Saniya Rivers and Leila Lacan each added 11 points, and Olivia Nelson-Ododa chipped in with 10. The Sun struggled in the third quarter, going more than six minutes without scoring, with their first points of the final period coming with 4:39 remaining.
Reese rounded out her night with 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Jordin Canada contributed 12 points and 10 assists for the Dream. Atlanta finished the game with a solid 14-of-37 shooting from three-point range. Looking ahead, Connecticut will face the Chicago Sky on Friday, while Atlanta will travel to take on the Indiana Fever on Thursday.
