Shane Burgos Eyes Comeback: "One More Run" in the Octagon

Shane Burgos, the former UFC and PFL fighter, is ready to re-enter the competitive arena after a break from the sport. The 35-year-old has been absent since his unanimous decision loss to Clay Collard in August 2023, a bout that many fans hailed as one of the year's best. However, he recently took to social media to share his renewed enthusiasm for fighting, stating he is eager to make "one more run" to cap off his career.

“I needed that break from fighting. The weight cuts, the training camps, everything that goes into it burned me out,” Burgos explained. “That’s in the past tho. I’ve never stopped working. I need to be back in that fire again. I miss it. Excited for whatever’s next,” he added, signaling his readiness to return to the spotlight.

Burgos, who holds a professional record of 16-5, previously left the UFC after 11 bouts, a decision that UFC CEO Dana White later labeled a “big mistake.” Following his departure, Burgos signed with PFL, but his tenure there was less than stellar, ending with a 1-2 record. Despite the setbacks, he has no regrets about his decision, citing financial benefits for his family as a primary motivation.

Last year, Burgos expressed a desire to conclude his career with the UFC, where he has proven himself a thrilling fighter, boasting an 8-3 record. With fans eagerly anticipating his return, many believe it’s only a matter of time before the UFC considers bringing him back. If not, opportunities may arise with organizations like Jake Paul’s MVP MMA or Scott Coker’s new promotion, both of which are known for seeking out established talent.
