Spartanburgers Claim Thrilling Walk-Off Victory Over Asheville

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — In a dramatic contest filled with 23 hits and nine errors, the Spartanburgers triumphed over the Asheville Tourists with an 8-7 walk-off win. The victory moves the Spartanburgers to a record of 30-29, while the Tourists continue to struggle at 16-43.

The scoring kicked off early, as Asheville's Caden Powell launched a solo home run just two batters into the game. However, the Spartanburgers quickly responded, with Hector Osorio hitting a home run of his own, marking his second consecutive game with a long ball. The game remained tied after Asheville managed to squeeze in another run in the second inning thanks to a bases-loaded walk from Kamdyn Perry, who later left the game with the bases loaded.

In the bottom of the second, Luke Hanson tied the game with his tenth home run of the season, leading to a surge for Hub City as Quincy Scott and Yeison Morrobel contributed with RBI singles. After a rocky fourth inning for Perry, who gave up one run, Jackson Wells entered for Asheville and delivered four hitless innings of relief.

Asheville recaptured the lead in the seventh inning with runs from Nehomar Ochoa and Justin Thomas Jr., putting them ahead 6-5. However, Hub City fought back to tie the game in the seventh and then took the lead in the eighth, only to watch Asheville knot the score again in the ninth. The intensity continued into extra innings, with both teams exchanging near-misses.

In the bottom of the tenth, Spartanburg took advantage of a crucial error by Asheville's Colby Langford, allowing Scott to score the winning run after a wild throw following a sacrifice bunt attempt. The two teams are set to face off again tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. ET, with promising pitchers Caden Scarborough and Parker Smith slated to start.
