Staal's Incredible Backhand Lifts Hurricanes to Victory in Stanley Cup Final

LAS VEGAS (AP) — In a crucial Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal took a straightforward approach, but his decisive play proved to be anything but ordinary. The seasoned 20-year veteran delivered a spectacular game-winning goal that showcased his skill against the Vegas Golden Knights.

With the score tied at 3 in the third period, Staal executed an impressive mid-air backhand shot with 13:29 remaining, which eluded Vegas goalie Carter Hart and found the net. This marked Staal's second goal of the evening and secured the Hurricanes' 5-3 win, leveling the series at 2-2 as it heads back to Carolina for Game 5 on Thursday.

Throughout the series, Staal has been a standout performer, netting five goals overall. His scoring streak has made him the first player since Mike Bossy of the New York Islanders in 1982 to tally a goal in each of the first four games of the Stanley Cup Final. Staal also matched the franchise's second-longest playoff goal streak, trailing only teammate Logan Stankoven, who set the record at five earlier in the postseason. With 11 total points in the playoffs, including seven goals, Staal continues to be a key player for the Hurricanes.
